Answers To All Your Questions

Can I stay in the salon with my pet while he/she is being groomed?

It is safest for the groomer and pet if the pet parent is not in the salon during grooming. Pup's tend to get super excited and wiggly while Mom and Dad are around and this makes for a dangerous situation while trying to clipper and scissor. For this reason we ask that you stay outside of the grooming area during the haircut process. You are welcome to hang out in our carport or in your car while your pup is getting beautified.  We do have constant video monitoring of the entire grooming, bathing and holding area. (Under certain circumstances pet parents are allowed in the grooming area to help assist with nail grinding)

Why is there an additional charge for haircuts longer than a half of an inch?

A coat that is long and fluffy is so beautiful and cuddly! These coats take longer to bathe, dry and scissor. Due to the longer amount of time needed to work on these styles an additional charge is added onto the base groom. This charge covers the additional time needed for labor.Thank you for understanding it takes a little more time to keep the pup's longer coat scissored to perfection.

Do you groom cats?

I apologise but we do not offer cat grooming at The Grooming Parlour.

How long will my dog's groom take?

Depending on the type of service the groom may take anywhere from 1 to 4 hours. Each dog is worked on individually and I will give you an approximate pick-up time during drop off. I will call or text 15 minutes prior to completion of the groom.

My dog can be aggressive. Are you able to groom him/her?

Every dog reacts to each situation differently. If you have been told by a previous groomer that your dog can be aggressive towards certain parts of the groom please let me know so we can discuss what options I have to help in your specific situation. Because I am working solo I may not be able to handle certain aggressive issues for safety reasons. However, I am always open to discussing each case individually and making a plan that would be best for each individual dog and owner. As always if you know your dog can be aggressive during specific parts of the groom PLEASE TELL ME BEFORE SERVICE. If I know ahead of time I am able to approach the situation in a safe way to keep both your pup and myself safe, happy and healthy.

What payment options do you offer?

We accept cash or credit/debit cards
I apologize we do not accept personal checks

Do you use kennel dryers?

No. We do not use kennels or kennel dryers. Household box fans are used in holding areas when needed for dogs that are afraid of the force dryer.

My dog has mats. Can you brush them out?

The ability to brush out matting depends on the severity of the matting and the tolerance level of the dog. Small pin matts or isolated areas of mild matting may be able to be brushed out. However, if the dog is matted over a large area or matted to the skin it is in the best interest of the dog to shave the hair.
Matting can cause the skin to be pulled and trap bacteria and moisture between the skin and coat. This can cause skin irritation that is unable to be seen until the hair is removed. I will let you know if I find any irritation during the groom.

Why is there an additional charge for matting?

Removing matting from a dogs coat takes extra time and wear and tear on equipment. Shaving a matted coat quickly dulls blades and they will need to be sharpened more regularly. It is also extremely important to go slowly while brushing or shaving mats to prevent skin irritation and keep the dog as comfortable as possible.

How often should my dog be groomed?

The length of time between grooming depends on the length of your dogs coat and how much maintenance you are wanting to do at home.
Dogs keeping a longer coat need grooming every 4 to 8 weeks while dogs keeping a shorter coat may need grooming every 8 to 12 weeks.
Double coated dogs should be bathed and brushed once a month to keep their undercoat brushed out and the coat healthy. Shed-less treatments are helpful in the fall and spring when the dogs tend to blow their undercoat.
Short haired bath dogs should be bathed every 4 to 6 weeks to maintain a healthy coat and nails.
